Hans

Translation:
Based on the very small antennae I think this is a female chironomid. Am I right and can anything be said about the genus? Additional information: picture taken today in cold weather in the western part of the Achterhoek (eastern Netherlands.

Thanks in advance,

Hans

It certainly is a chironomid. I will not hazard a guess to which one, though.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
