I know - a question guaranteed to get me a carefully worded, but non-committal response, especially as the photo is not so good. Specimen taken 19 March, 4-5mm, very black all over, somewhat shiny, neat row of long strong hairs on front femora, plumose arista.

My first thought was Fannia, but on looking closer I started to wonder about Hylema or Pegomya.

I know I should attempt to run it through my Antho key, but to tell you the truth, I'm extremely daunted by it, and would be really grateful for a little push in the right direction before tackling it.
