Hello! This Tachinid from May-09 was bigger than a Tachina fera, but more slender. On leaves near trail in mixed forest (northwest Germany). Can it be identified? Thanks! Hello, Theo! Zeegers wrote: Phorocera assimilis male (or grandis, which is very rare indeed). Many thanks! Also Phorocera... That is astounding - this fly was double the size as the Phorocera cf. obscura in my other posting. Yes First of all, these are two different species, differing in size. Secondly, all parasitoids have a tendency of displaying huge size differences between members of the same species. Depends largely on the size of the host. Theo |
