Another impossible fly, a Culicoides. Found yesterday on my balcony in Minas de Riotinto.

And a question for future Culicoides: Are there any species that can be identified with a photo? Or are they all a waaste of time and space? Frown

Thanks!
André

The wing patterns are useful for ID. You can find wing atlases (photo collections) of Culicoides of some regions. I can not identify European species. I do not know of there is an atlas for southern or western Europe.

Ok, John! I will try to find an atlas for European species. Or find info about the Iberian Peninsula.

Thanks! TumbsUp

It is sad news. I read him a month ago, as he replied to me about a wrong identification. He was brilliant, as always.
