Hi, This is a case for Jan Willem, but every other advice is gratefully accepted, too! The little creature came before my camera in Berlin in last September, and I remember I already had a quite similar one identified by Jan Willem as Opomyza florum. I can only guess from the habit, but I wouldn't be surprised if this one belonged to the same genus and perhaps species. Thanks, Sundew Sundew attached the following image: [171.36Kb] |

You are completely right, this is Opomyza florum. Do you have more details on the exact date and location?

Sure, the location is the same as for the Opomyza florum of thread http://www.dipter...ad_id=9063 that you found to look extraordinarily dark. It is the Spaeth Arboretum in Berlin-Baumschulenweg, i. e. a small botanical garden. The present fly was seen on September 22, the dark one on October 9 - maybe it is the same specimen that darkened because of age and autumn season?! However, I am glad I recognized it among all the yellow Suillias and Scathophagas and Sapromyzas that crowd in my collection of summer pictures still unprocessed. Thanks and best wishes, Sundew |
