Hello everyone, Google´s KI suggested Gastrolepta anthracina, but I think that doesn´t fit. Could it be Rhiniphora lepida? Length less 1 cm. Location: Germany, Rhineland-Palatinum, 53572 Unkel, river Rhine valley, Stux hill, dry and warm habitat (grapeyards), nearby deciduous forest (oak, Fagus ...), April 21st, 2025 Thanks in advance, Michael Michael Stemmer attached the following image: ![]() [160.43Kb] Edited by Michael Stemmer on 23-12-2025 22:20 |

I think, it is a Phania funesta By the way: Rhinophora lepida is no Tachinid, but - as the name suggests - a Rhinophorid...

To be even more precise: the former Rhinophoridae are now a subfamily of the Calliphoridae. Besides, I'm also in favour of Phania funesta. Rhinophora lepida has a distinct stalk on wing vein R4+5 and flies later (from June onwards). Regards, Sundew |
