Hello, I've got a couple of IDs that I'm not too sure about. Samples were collected in Santa Clara County, CA. Any help would be appreciated. The first one (the one above what I believe is a Ceratopogonidae), I was thinking Limoniidae? Neel B attached the following image: ![]() [182.12Kb] Edited by Neel B on 23-03-2025 20:46 |

Not sure whether this is the same family as the first image or a different. I feel like it looks slightly different, but I'm not too sure about this.

I could be overthinking this one. I had initially thought Chironomidae, but this one looks very different from other ones that I've seen, and I didn't see any prolegs.

For the last one, I think the top one is psychodidae, and the bottom one might be either stratiomyidae or psychodidae.

Photo 1-2: Limoniidae, probably Hexatominae with indeed Ceratopogonidae at the bottom in Photo 1 Photo 3-4: Chironomidae, most likely Stenochironomus, long body with flat head Photo 5: psychodidae, close to Berdeniella sp. (top) and Stratiomyidae (bottom) Edited by atylotus on 25-03-2025 17:10 |
