Have a nice day. One Question please. Can this Bombylius species be identified? Or would she have had to sit still to see the wings. I would be very grateful for an answer. Kind regards, Karl. Finding data: Austria, Lower Austria, Tattendorf, 220m, semi-dry flowering area, April 28, 2024, size approx. 5mm. The fly gets nectar from Saponaria ocymoides. karl7 attached the following image: ![]() [150.82Kb] |

Hallo Karl, yes, if you want to sure you need a good image of a wing in resting posture. I guess it is a Bombylius major or medius - but it's not sure. Greetings, Eric Kloeckner |

Thanks Eric for the answer and the information. I will then stick with Bombylius sp. Maybe I'll find a dormant Bombylius species this year. Best Wishes Karl. |
