Hi all,

I found this Diptera larva swimming on the edge of my garden pond in North East France.
Assuming this is Tabanidae and it resembles Hybomitra larvae posted here, but is it possible to go to genus level from this photo ?

Many thanks
Sophie

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
