I would put my money on Calliphoridae (and I would probably lose it).

Right !
It is a Pollenia, given the golden curly hairs on the thorax.
The special way the abdomen is checkered, gives it away as well
(though very difficult to pinpoint how exactly it is special).
Anyway, curly golden or grey hairs on thorax is Pollenia.
