Thanks for the help from you both. I looked in the Photogallery at P. nitidula & photo (3) I noticed along the leading wing edge has a row of short hairs & then one longer hair at the end of the subcostal vein where there is a small notch in the wing. I can see the same in my first photo; is this something that all Psilopa Species have or is it unique to P. nitidula? Thanks again.

The leg colouring fits nitidula. The bristles on the wing edge are not diagnostic in this species.
