August 06, 2022 in the south of France, on a kermess holm oak.
The fly measures 13 mm in total, from the head to the wing tips.
I don't know what it was looking for on the bark of the tree but it was moving a lot, without flying away and without leaving the tree.
Thank you for your help in identifying it.
