On 5.7. I found this orange fly on the banks of the Zschopau, Saxony, Germany. What is it?

Thank you in advance

Though the pictures are rather blurred and show no important details, I'd vote for Dryomyza anilis (Dryomyzidae). I wished we could see the distribution of setae on the lateral thorax and if the wing vein R1 is setose along its whole length. With such pictures we can guess a name only by habitus...
Regards, Sundew

Herzlichen Dank,
auch besonders hier,
wo die Fotos nicht wirklich für eine genaue Bestimmung ausreichen.

Grüße Beate

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
