Dear all,
on 16.05.2020 I found this fly on mount Slijeme near Zagreb, Croatia. Do you recognize the species?
Thank you in advance!
Best, Adrian

Looks like Tephritis divisa.

Thanks, Ben!
However, could it be T. separata? e.g. https://diptera.i...o_id=10663 It looks like the 4th clear patch on the inner side (counting from the apex) is separated into three circles. Also, the separated clear circle in the center of the black region looks much larger on images of T. divisa.

According to Merz (1994) Tephritis separata nearly always has three hyaline spots in R1, your fly has two.
The position of the hyaline spot in R2+3 seems to be more distal than usual in T. divisa, but I still would favour Tephritis divisa in this case.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
