Hi, Bibio females are difficult or impossible to identify and usually you will need minimum dorsal and lateral views. But I think I exclude reticulatus, which has hyaline wings and johannis, which has a short head and almost hyaline wings. (Verbeke key)
I guess it could be varipes - on your first image I think I see a light haltere. But it's is not sure!
Greetings, Eric Kloeckner

Strong veins and late date both suggest reticulatus.

Thanks to Eric and Theo for your answer.
There are no more shots, sorry.

We called it Bibio reticulatus.

best wishes

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
