Hello,

Yesterday I photographed this fly, which I used to call Otites formosa. By now, Otites formosa is no longer a valid scientific name, but is now called Otites porca. As far as the former O. formosa is concerned, Wikipedia writes the following:

In the past, specimens in southwestern Germany were assigned to the species Otites formosa [Panzer, 1798]. The latter is now considered to be another species occurring in eastern Europe, for which the name Otites ruficeps (Fabricius, 1805) was proposed in the revision.

As I do not live in eastern Europe, but in south-western Germany, I now see Otitis porca in my specimen. Do I understand this correctly?

Thank you and greetings, Volker
