Found in late April on Danube Island in Vienna.
The key (https://home.hccn...ml#Thereva) led me to T. oculata, but I also saw this thread about T. cinifera.

The halteres are dark, and no femoral bristles are present on either front or mid leg.

A Thereva in late April is very early, or?

All requests are from the urban area of Vienna, if not otherwise stated.

My Diptera observations (and other living forms) can be found here, and corrections or comments over there would also be appreciated.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
