Picture taken in mid August, east China (Zhejiang province). The wing venation seems unfortunately a bit fuzzy (I have sadly just this one single shot). However, based on the thorax pattern, I've found for this hariy-eyed Tachinid a few seemingly promising candidates, including Vibrissina and Winthemia. So my guess is Exoristiinae. Am I looking at the correct subfamily? Many thanks in advance!

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
