Hi, in the beginning of September I took away a small piece of wet and rotten dead wood in a forest in Saxony (Germany). Some days ago this cranefly or relative with the very long antennae emerged. Is species or genus ID possible? Size: 15 mm from the hump to the end of body. Hi Clovis, thank you very much for ID of Tipula (Dendrotipula) flavolineata. In the previous year I ask for a larva in the same piece of dead wood https://diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=4&thread_id=103532 Is it possible that the cranefly developed from that larva? Since I did not crumble the wood beforehand, I cannot completely rule out that there was more than 1 larva in it. Greetings, Marion |

Thanks again, I'll be patient for a while and if there is no other cranefly emerging, I'll take a closer look to the wood. |
