Dear all,
last summer on a hike on mount Stoos I encountered this beautiful hoverfly which rested on my camera bag. Do you know what species it is? Thank you very much in advance!

My guess: Arctophila bombiformis. I'm not an expert. Greetings from the Prealps.

Hey, thank you for the suggestion. While looking it up, I stumbled upon Volucella bombylans, which I believe could be the species.

Yes, its not Arctophila. I think you are right. Sorry.

Definitely Volucella bombylans (f).
