Hi all, using the keys in Verlinden, I come to the (shaky) conclusion that this might be a female Metasyrphus (Eupeodes) luniger . But some details such as the color of the hair on the scutellum make me doubtful. Size 10-12 mm. H?ron (Belgium) July 30th 2007 Comments anyone ? It?s quite safe to call this Eupeodes luniger (we don?t use Metasyrphus anymore). |

Thanks Andre and Jorge! It does not seem to be common in my area, though, I understand, not rare. Cheers Philippe |
