Hi,
I found these larvae in the end of February in a forest beneath deadwood (Germany, Saxony). Size less than 10 mm. Sciaroidea?
Thanks, Marion

The fact that these are in a mass, and have white bodies and black heads suggest to me that they are Sciaridae.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
