Hi all, I collected this 5-mm male muscid in a pitfall trap in the Mojave Desert in June of this year. I tried to key it using Huckett 1975 and got to Phaoniinae, but was unable to key to genus (got led to Dialyta, which is not likely to occur in CA). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Ken S. Ken, on fig. 3 anal vien is long; on fig.5 it seems there 2 pd on t3; on fig. 7 genitalia look elongated. Thus, 1st question: are you sure that it is not Anthomiiyd?

If the prealar is missing, consider the Eutrichota affinis group. |

Well that's embarassing! Sorry, I got A1 and A2 confused, shouldn't have tried to go from memory - Anthomyiidae it is! Thanks Nikita and John! |
