Palloptera modesta? From 29 September 2007, east London inner city park with mature deciduous woodland, open areas of long grass and small ponds with quite a bit of marginal vegetation. 4mm, female. This seems to key out quite nicely to P modesta, but I thought I would check because although there are other Palloptera species recorded for this site, P modesta has not been recorded there before.

Oops! That will explain the lack of records for P modesta then Wink There are lots of records for O germinationis, both for the park and surrounding area, so I am sure you will be right. I'll go back and key it out *properly* to family level.

Thanks for the confirmation Jan Willem. 'Your' flies are a nice group - I like them, and will practice a bit more on them.
