Is it possible to identify this small Tabanidae by such foto? It was flew on the light tonight. Length ~1cm. Transcarpathion region of Ukraine, June

With such long antennae and apparently hyaline wnigs it should be Heptatoma pellucens. Annyway it would be better to hear a specialist. |

But Heptatoma is very different otherwise. This is a very interesting case. Any chance you collected the specimen ? If it returns tonight, please do. Theo |

South-eastern Europe and further. You can check distributions at www.fauna-eu.org. Or, in the case of former SSSR states, in Olsufjev’s 1977 monograph, if you can read Russian Theo |

It turned out that this species was not registered in Ukraine, but in the Caucasus and further east. |
