Hi,
We have some nice Otites here (50 km west of Stuttgart, southwestern Germany), the pictures of two females are from 21st May. According to wing pattern and widely orange legs it should be O. porcus and not O. ruficeps (the former O. formosa). If the latter has entirely black occiput and legs as stated in https://zenodo.or...download=1, some “O. ruficeps” pictures in the gallery should be renamed. What do you say?
Thanks for comments, Sundew

The wings of the second female are less darkened at the tip.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
