This is probably a Merodon, but important characters for identification are the wing venation and a triangular appendix at the hind femora (see http://www.natur-...W-274.html). It is a pity that the picture does not show these parts of the fly. Regards, Sundew |

Given the small size and the orange fur and the early date, it will be M. aeneus. John |

Hi Rui, though I might be mistaken again, it can also be M. equestris, an error I made before... I'll have a look at my collection to see if I can find some differences besides the size of the specimen.. Sorry for that! John |
