Small pond fly

Hi, I have photographed this small grey fly on a forest pond (2021.04.22), 20km west of Paris. Length about 4-5mm. The face is quite different from what I use to find, ie Hydrellia sp. What could it be? Best regards, FRV FRV attached the following image: [177.6Kb] |

The first photo appears to be a male Scatella paludum. The second is a different species (note the much narrower gena - the space between the bottom of the eye and the mouthedge). It looks as though it's a Scatella as well, but I can't say which species.
