Hi and good afternoon from Germany, individual #1 yesterday evening I took photos of a fly with remarkable "feather"-antennae. It was 12 - 15 mm long. It was just a single animal of this kind there. Photo taken in the northern suburbs of Hamburg, Germany April 16, 2009. The fly sat on the illuminated glass of a bus shelter with a strip of woodland opposite to it. I will add two fotos of individual #1, one taken dorsal and the second from lateral. individual #2 Another species has started flying here a week ago. It is looking pretty similar, however, it is only 6.5 mm long and pure black. I will add one pic. I am new in trying to identify flies and do not even have an idea which family these two belong to. Is it possible to identify genus or even species? Thanks in advance for your help.
