Hello!

Does this 5-6 mm Chironomid to genus Chironomus? Last night at our house (northwest Germany).

Tony is being cautious because this is a female, and they do not present many good characters: it is a Chironomus in the largest sense of the term

I can't see anything in the photo which excludes Chironomus, but I don't have the necessary knowledge of German chironomids to say that it isn't anything else.

Thanks! I know that it's virtually impossible to identify a Chironomid after a photo. There are about 700 species listed here in Germany alone...
