Hello Diptera forum, This is my first post on this forum. This week I made this picture of a Tachinidae, but I have no idea which genus. Does anyone know the name of this fly? Picture is made in the south-east of the Netherlands. Thanks for your help. ArnovanStipdonk attached the following image: [93.8Kb] Edited by ArnovanStipdonk on 23-05-2008 22:26 |

First post, but not the worst. It's a male Blepharipa pratensis, rather rare species. Theo |

Eyes seem to be hairy? In Blepharipa they aren't, so I think it should be something different.

This may be Drino lota. When I zoom in, it seems the ocellar bristles are missing, regards, Steve |

Drino do have hairy eyes, but I agree not normally as conspicuous as these. Steve |

Nemorea pellucida? Can also be a fat Winthemia female..Knowing the flight time might help! |

In my opinion, it is none of the above.... so it puzzles me. Given the locality, I am now considering Carcelia iliaca, though I cannot see any red on the tibiae..... Another idea is Nilea hortulana ? Theo |
