Hi everyone!

It's been so long since i post here...
What a nice site here now, with so many changes !!! (congratulations to Paul and everyone at Diptera.info !)

Anyway, ... i have this hippoboscidae (if i can file get a convinient picture re-sizement...) that i suppose to be Ornithomia avicularia...

Several individuals found on a young pigeon in Hyères, France.

Can anyone confirm, or not ?
Any advise is welcome,

Happy christmas,
Stephan

It looks weird and the host is a clear indication for Pseudolynchia canariensis.

So search for Pseudolynchia and Ornithomyia in this forum and draw your conclusions.

Thanks Theo !
It looks much more to a Pseudolynchia than Ornithomyia !
When i search more on Pseudolynchia, it seem very difficult to make difference between P. garzettae and P. canariensis...

So i will stand on Pseudolynchia sp...Wink

Well, that is actually VERY easy:

canariensis is restricted to pigeons,
garzettae to Owls and Nightjars

in the end, they might prove synonynous....
