Hi everyone! It's been so long since i post here... What a nice site here now, with so many changes !!! (congratulations to Paul and everyone at Diptera.info !) Anyway, ... i have this hippoboscidae (if i can file get a convinient picture re-sizement...) that i suppose to be Ornithomia avicularia... Several individuals found on a young pigeon in Hyères, France. Can anyone confirm, or not ? Any advise is welcome, Happy christmas, Stephan stephan attached the following image: [110.01Kb] |

It looks weird and the host is a clear indication for Pseudolynchia canariensis. So search for Pseudolynchia and Ornithomyia in this forum and draw your conclusions. Theo |

Thanks Theo ! It looks much more to a Pseudolynchia than Ornithomyia ! When i search more on Pseudolynchia, it seem very difficult to make difference between P. garzettae and P. canariensis... So i will stand on Pseudolynchia sp... Stephan |

Well, that is actually VERY easy: canariensis is restricted to pigeons, garzettae to Owls and Nightjars in the end, they might prove synonynous.... Theo |
