I need help with this species of Anthomyiidae. Could not associate it reliably with any genus. Collected: 20.06-18.07.1917, Malaise trap, North-west Russia (Murmansk province, Lapland Nature Reserve). Size ca 5 mm.
Hopefully, genitalia figures will help.

At first sight, I don’t see any resemblanche with a possible genus or species I know.
Given the environment you found this specimen, we have to take in account that it could be a new species.
We can see a very large pregonite and the end of the distiphallus seems not sclerotized.
There are some genera in my mind, but for now I am thinking about a possible Phorbia species.
I attached one of your photos, where I can see a small seperate part…
Could this have belonged to the distiphallus…?
If so…..than it could confirm this species belongs to Phorbia.

Johanna, thank you very much!
I'll try to clear this part of the genitalia to check if we can see more details. Are there other important characters I could check?

Nicely cleaned!
I am almost sure this species could be Zaphne lineatocollis (Zetterstedt, 1838)(known from Lappland/Finnland).
Maybe you can check some other characteristics:

Acrostichals not strong, more hair like and in 4 irregular rows, prealar almost equal to posterior notopleural seta, notopleural area with one or two small hairs, mentum of proboscis black shining, midtibia with one av seta, hindtibia with 3 av, about 6 ad (with one longer), 3 pd and no pv setae.

Great!

Though, some characters seem to disagree: notopleural area with no hairs, hind tibia with 5-6 ad, but with 2-3 longer ones.

Anyhow now I know where to dig. Thank you very much!

Dear Johanna,

recently I had a possibility to compare this specimen with the description of Z.lineatocollis by Griffiths. Now I can confirm your identification.
Thank you once more for your assistance.
