I just ID-ed some Romanian Themira nigricornis and I have very strong doubts about Nikita's ID. Contrary to its name (nigricornis indicating black antennae) the species is supposed to have an orange base of the antennae. Morover, the legs should be partly yellow and in the above picture they are completely black. So, Nikita, what was your reason to ID it as T. nigricornis?

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
