Thank you Manuel! However I am a little bit confused: according to Fauna Europaea it should be absent in Germany... Regards, Ingo

That will be corrected in the next version. It was at least published on paper for Bayern, but I guess it will be all over the place.

Thank you Paul. I saw this species last year here too. So I think it is not very seldom at least here in Hesse. Regards, Ingo

Three days ago I found 5 or 6 couples of this species in copula (at the same location like last year). Maybe somebody is interested in the resulting video: http://commons.wi...06-15.webm (a little bit shaky by to much wind..) . Regards, Ingo

Yes, another much older report for Hesse (Frankfurt) is given here: Jaennicke, J.F. (1868): Die Dipteren der Umgegend von Frankfurt und Offenbach. - Bericht des Offenbacher Vereins für Naturkunde 9:147 http://archive.or...diet00offe.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
