Hello, I photographed this fly near Passo San Nicolò (TN), Italy, 2400m a.s.l. on August 3rd 2023. I think it is an Herina, and assuming I followed the key in Kameneva (2007) correctly, I think the possible options are H. palustris and H. parva. Is my initial identification correct? And is it possible to further narrow-down the ID to species-level? Thank you in advance, Emanuele ESant attached the following image: [299.94Kb] Edited by ESant on 02-02-2024 17:52 |

It is Herina parva. Merz (1996) gave good pictures, which Kameneva (2007) did not repeat for this reason, so sometimes better to combine. Herina palustris has long black postpedicel of antenna. Val |
