Berlin - May, 2017
Hello everyone,

I do not know what this could be and i do not know alot about Asilidae. I wonder if it is a Choerades sp, such as gilva, or if it is simply a dark form of Lasiopogon cinctus? I saw it on a fence post about 10 feet away from where i was standing. I had my bird telephoto lens, so i could only make photos using the 500mm lens. My Wife tried to approach it with the macro lens but it took flight. Any hope for a genus at least?

Best wishes,
John

It looks very much like Lasiopogon :-)

Thank you very much Reinoud!

I wish i had the macro for better photos. I was trying to photograph a Cuculus canorus bird when i noticed it sitting on the fence post.

Best wishes,
John
