Hi,
On 4th July I saw this Tachinid female on an inflorescence of Daucus carota. As to petiolate wing cell r4+5 and arista with trichia it recalls Estheria, but the two species I know till now are no good match. E. bohemani has a distinct petiole but a dark scutellum, and E. picta with a yellow scutellum has a very short petiole and darkend wing parts around R-M and other veins. So what about E. cristata?
Location was southwestern Germany, town of Weil der Stadt (native town of the great astronomer Johannes Kepler).
Thanks for any help, Sundew

There are (or have been) 4 post DC. Both second ones are broken off !
so I’d say your assessment is very correct indeed.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
