I found this fly in the East of France, last july. I thought initially it may be a Chlorops sp., but the eyes are hairy, so I think it must be another species. Does anyone have an idea about its ID ?

Trachysiphonella Enderlein, 1936, either scutellata (von Roser, 1840) or ruficeps (Macquart, 1835). Larval stages completely unknown in the genus, partly very abundant on dry meadows. Both species with elongate proboscis and narrow protruding gena, known as pollinators of certain flowers. |
