I found this small Ogcodes species on 11-06-2012 in France, Indre, Saint Gilles, La Fontouret. Gerard Pennards suggested it might be Ogcodes pallipes. Length ca. 5 mm. Could anyone tell me anything about this funny fly?

The family Acroceridae, or accepted as Cyrtidae by some authors. There is detailed biology on this group in the following address, including your species. http://www.faculty.ucr.edu/~legneref/identify/cyrtidae.htm |

Thank you very much for the interesting link Cesa! It is a very special family. Could you (or anyone else of course) confirm it is Ogcodes pallipes? Tjitske Lubach |

Dear Lubach, a week ago, I submitted here a Turkish species of Ogcodes: see ,http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=5&thread_id=48772 Dr.Kehlmaier, member of Diptera.info, helped in identification of my species. The most important work on this group by Sack in 1936 on Palaearctic Acroceridae, written in german. I haven't this publication; but I think Dr.Kehlmaier may express his idea about the identity of your Ogcodes. Best wishes, Edited by Cesa on 15-07-2012 15:47 |
