Hello! A 10 mm midge from the light last night (northwest Germany). I am not sure about the family. 1100x1100 picture (35 KB): http://www.foto-u...10mm_2.jpg Juergen Peters attached the following image: [24.12Kb] Edited by Juergen Peters on 08-10-2008 20:42 Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

Looks more like Limoniidae to me. Anal vein two doesn't seem short enough, though it is a little doubtful. If it does belong to the family Trichoceridae then I think it is not Trichocera, which only leaves Diazosma (which I don't know at all).

Well, this gnat does not belong to Trichoceridae. The wing lacks forks of M1 and M2, R2+3 and R4, discal cell is different and some other features show, that it looks more like Limoniidae Unfortunately, I just don't know which genus it is. Speaking about Diazosma - it's wing venation is rather similar to Trichocera, except mainly the long anal vein as Jan Willem said. Edited by Andrius on 09-10-2008 10:54 |
