Hi everyone,

For this one I think it could be Minettia fasciata, do you think this is correct?

Hi,

I read that species from fasciata group could be difficult on photos, do you think we could at least validate this group or am I am wrong?

By the way, where could I find the list of the species from this group to cross-search with the list of species reported in France?

Thank you!
Cédric

Merz, Bernhard. 2004. Revision of the Minettia fasciata species-group (Diptera, Lauxaniidae). Revue Suisse de Zoologie 111 (1): 183-211

There are three species of the group in western Europe: fasciata, subvittata, and tabidiventris.

Thank you John!

Based on this key, I think mine could be subvitata based on the row of long black setae at posterior margin of tergite 3 and palpus rather yellowish.

Do you think this is correct?

Happy new year to everyone!

Do you think it is possible to go the species and if so, do you think the proposed ID is correct?

Minettia fasciata, as the palpi are black apically and the lateral absominal spot between tergites and sternites is large and black.
