The curious stratiomid wings with the main veins crowded anteriorly and the veins leaving the discal cell very faint are nicely shown here together with the characteristic over the abdomen folding (flat and crossed) of the tapering wings. Not only are the wings milky but the body colours are too. This is, seemingly a rare fly in W. Europe. It is centred in the East and Balkans with only scattered records in France and Austria. A delight in every way. Robert
