Hi I did collect this beauty in Pyrynees in the last week. AN outstanding Tachinidae known as Brachymera letochai (was before thought it could be a Schineria tergestina). jorgemotalmeida attached the following image: [193.34Kb] Edited by jorgemotalmeida on 13-08-2012 11:37 |

Nice - it looks very similar to Zeuxia and Eriothrix

It seems this is a Brachymera letochai. Extremely rare as well. http://biodiversi...2/mode/1up it is known for Italy, Slovenia and Pyrynees. Edited by jorgemotalmeida on 13-08-2012 11:41 |

According to the Tschorsnig: "Brachymera letochai, no doubt. Schineria tergestina differs (in the characters which can be seen on the photos - there are more differences of course) from Brachymera letochai by the elongated first and second aristal segments, the elongated pedicel (only slightly shorter than the first flagellomere), the different shape of the head (frons not prominent at antennal base, upper part of back of head less convex), shorter thoracic and abdominal bristles (which are very long and strong in Brachymera)." also check it out this thread: http://diptera.in...d_id=41315 |
