date: 27.04.2020; location: in Hamburg, Germany, in my garden which is close to a park with large trees and a pond;
about 3-4 mm; family Chloropidae? perhaps a Meromyza species?
Thanks a lot for any ID help!
Best regards,
Volker

Thaumatomyia notata: No thickened hind femur, flattened scutellum with close-set scutellar setae and apparently narrow genae. Tose extended glands at the tip of the abdomen also are good indicators for that species.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
