Hello,

I photographed this fly near Lago Sinizzo (AQ), Italy, on February 4th 2021. Could it be a Bibio femoralis or is it a different species?

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Hi Emanuele, though femoralis is not in my keys I'm quite sure it is, if I compare with your thread of 20210304! (If you've collected it, Theo might be happy Smile).

Greetings, Eric

Thank you very much Eric! I found this specimen just a few days after the one in the other thread, so at the time I took the photos I still didn't know I had to collect it, unfortunately.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
