Looks like Rh. notatus, but the altitude worries me. Still forests around, at 2000 m ?

Hi Theo, just some shrubs (Alnus viridis) around (and a river). Alpine area, Eastern Tyrol.

Fe 1 and 3 are somewhat yellowish at base (not as mentioned in Stubbs & Drake; they say base should be black); Stigma is clearly black, but in general the wings are very dark...

You'd expect Rh. cingulatus at that altitude, which has however clearly darkened wings.
And this one ticks many boxes for notatus:
* dark stigma
* Clear wing
* dark antenna
* largely dark first tergite
* largely dark scutellum.

The colouration of legs is pretty variable in Rhagio, I would not bother too much about this, as long as there are dark rings on femora.

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
