Hello,

I photographed this larva in Germany, Rheinland-Pfalz, Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis, Rödersheim-Gronau, ca. 1,7 km W, wet meadow, 49° 25' 36'' N, 8° 14' 35'' E, ca. 110 m asl, 24.04.2020 on Achillea ptarmica. I think it is a Syrphidae, but is it possible to identify the genus or species from these photos?

Thank you in advance,
Julia

Sorry, I was not able to upload my pic in the forum...

Hi Julia and welcome to the diptera.info forum. It is a Syrphidae larva but I think it is not possible to go to genus level from your photo: we need to see at least a lateral view showing the posterior breathing tubes, too.
To upload more images please look at the FAQs https://diptera.i...p?cat_id=2.

Greetings, Eric

Hi Eric,

I guess my pic was too big. Will trye again. But maybe, I don't have a sufficient pic, to help for identification. Can't see any breathing tube ;D

Hi Julia, still difficult but it could be a Scaeva sp.

Greetings, Eric
