Hello,

I photographed this fly in Bazzano (AQ), Italy, on April 24th 2020. I think it is a Chamaemyiidae (maybe genus Leucopis?), but is it possible to identify it from just this photo?

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Chamaemyiidae to species level from photo is almost always impossible. This is indeed Leucopis.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
