Tachinidae yes. But I think this is somewhere around Peribaea.

The colouration of the thorax indeed reminds on Medina.
However, it should be in Siphonini, as pointed out by Gabor, or maybe Phytomypterini. Can't tell.

WEll, this proves to be very interesting. There are not clear setulae on the wing veins (I know, out of focus, but I should be able to see something), which exclude Siphonini. Moreover, a quick scan of my collection reveiled no Siphonini with a Medina-colouration on the thorax. The same, however, applies to Phytomypterini.
Then, there is this classic pitfall: Paracraspedothrix montivaga, in Blondeliini, but extremely like Elfia (= Craspedothrix) in Phytomypterini.
I checked, bingo.

So: Paracraspedothrix montivaga, considered to be rare but might as well just be often overlooked.

Nevertheless, a great achievement to get on film !

We found this fly for the first time in Britain a few years ago and in the first year we had about 5-6 records from all around the southern half of the country. Since then we have had very few records but they do still come in every now and then. I think we have a lot to learn about the behaviour of this species Smile

jean-claude: would be nice to show your 2 photos on my website - if you agree Smile
